travel north america united states nevada virginia city

Virginia City, Nevada, is the county seat of Storey County, Nevada, and is part of the Reno-Sparks Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Developed as a a boomtown in 1859 with the discovery of the Comstock Lode, the first major silver deposit discovery in the United States.
In 1863, Samuel Clemens first used the pen name Mark Twain here where he wrote for the Enterprise.
This old "ghost town" still flourishes as an interesting historic tourist stop.
As an architect and student of history, I really enjoy seeing the different architectural elements represented here.
